NCAA visits two Clemson players

CLEMSON — NCAA officials visited Clemson earlier this week to question two football players.

The NCAA was interested in several items posted on the players’ Facebook pages, according to ESPN.

The NCAA has recently begun a sweeping investigation regarding improper dealings between sports agents and players. The probe includes South Carolina and North Carolina. However, it’s unclear if the NCAA’s visit to Clemson involved agent- related questioning.

Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips released a statement Friday afternoon.

“The NCAA came to our campus earlier this week to speak to two of our student-athletes in the sport of football,” Phillips said. “We cooperated fully and answered all of their questions. We do not have reason for concern.”

Athletic spokesperson Tim Bourret said he is “not aware that any players are in violation (regarding) the agent situation.”

At ACC media days earlier this week, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said he had advised his players to be careful with their Facebook accounts.
