2010 ACC Blitz Preseason Power Poll

The seasons right around the corner. Longest – summer – ever. What better time than 3am on a Tuesday night with a beer in hand to release my 2010 Preseason Power Poll right?

First off let me get this out of the way – I know I have the Hokies at No.1, but it’s not a case of me simply buying into what all the popular media outlets are throwing out there. If you know me, you’ve realized by now I don’t give two $#!^$ what the main stream thinks. Half the time they’re wrong. That or just copying one another.

This is based on copious amounts of analyzing stats and Heineken.

I’ll be going a little more (well a LOT more) in depth on each team in my previews rolling out shortly. You’ll notice two ties. Those squads are so close it’ll take a game or two to shake things out. The recent losses FSU has experienced really has me doubting their positioning but I’ll hold off until after Week 1 to judge that.

1)Virginia Tech
Star studded offense plus always stout defense equals success in 2010.

1)Miami
Harris and the offense look great and the D seems to be getting that old school swag back.

3)Georgia Tech
Despite losing key players on offense, never count out Johnsons Jackets.

4)Florida State
Jimbo is in a great position to bring back the Noles of old with Ponder and company.

5)North Carolina
NFL caliber defense, but the offense needs to show signs of life this season.

6)Boston College
Year in and year out a contender. Harris and Herzlich back should make for another good season.

6)Clemson
The return of QB Parker instantly puts them back in the chase for the Atlantic Title.

8)NC State
The Pack have a chance at a decent year with QB Wilson back and Irving returning on defense.

9)Duke
Coach Cutcliffe has the Devils on the rise. Watch out for QB Renfree/WR Varner combo.

10)Wake Forest
Replacing QB Skinner will be a tough task for Coach Grobe.

11)Maryland
Friedgen is on the hot seat following a 2-10 campaign in ’09.

12)Virginia
New Coach London won’t challenge for a title right off the bat but ’10 can be used as a great stepping stone.
