Florida State DB arrested

Authorities on Tuesday night arrested Ed Imeokparia, a sophomore football player at Florida State, and charged him with grand theft after he allegedly stole a cell phone from a store in Panama City.

According to a statement the Panama City Police Department released on Tuesday, Imeokparia, a reserve defensive back for the Seminoles, allegedly stole on Monday a Motorola cell phone from the Planet Cellular Store in Panama City. The phone is valued at $449.99, according to the police’s release.

According to the statement, detectives determined that Imeokparia stole the phone and then traced him to Tallahassee, where he was arrested with the help of the local police department here.

Another arrest is expected, according to the Panama City police.

Imeokparia, a New Jersey native, arrived at Florida State in 2008. He suffered a torn ACL before the 2008 season, in which he redshirted. Imeokparia played in one game during the 2009 season.
