Around the ACC

(6.17.09) Clemson suffering the injury bug, but they pick up their 1st commitment of ’11; Duke picks up another ’10 commitment, more reason for Cutcliffe to be positive; NC State players hang with the Marines; FSU’s McDaniel staying with football; Georgia Tech – Kansas set to play in 2010, and the Jackets are eying LB stud.

  • The last thing Clemson needs coming into the ’09 season is a visit from the injury bug, but they couldn’t dodge that bullet with WR Jacoby Ford and RB Andre Ellington sidelined. Don’t sweat it though Dabo, both should be ready for kickoff.
  • Talks about the ’09 ACC Football season will undoubtedly hear the mention of Duke and how he is doing a 180* with their football team. All the more reason to be a ‘glass half full’ guy. Anyone who can turn that program around should be grinning ear to ear – what better way to climb the proverbial ladder that is NCAA coaching.
  • Out-of-conference games just keep getting better and better in the league. First, Clemson-Alabama in ’08, Virginia Tech-Alabama in ’09, and now Georgia Tech and Kansas are slated to started play in 2010.
  • And finally – FSU fans (and Papa Bowden) can breathe a sigh of relief. Standout DT Jacobbi McDaniel is passing up playing in the Majors to pursue football at FSU. Talk about passion for the game, but in all honesty, had the Brewers actually offered him the $1.5 Mil he was looking for, the Seminole roster would be one man lighter.
