(5.16.09) Herzlich gracious, Harris almost ready for the Canes, FSU gains another body at RB, Clemson Coach winning over fans left and right, and BC LB Herzlich speaks out about the support he is receiving.
This is a combo version of 5.15 and 5.16 news (work kept me late yesterday – and by work I mean the place that I actually get PAID).
- First and foremost, have to give a shout out to Mark Herzlich. If you somehow don’t know, he announced he is battling cancer on Thursday. He spoke with ESPN yesterday, expressing gratitude to everyone supporting him.
- New Clemson head man Dabo Swinney won over a lot of people in ’08, uniting a somewhat disbanded team after Bowden got the axe. Fast forward to the present, and at the ’09 BWM Charity Pro-Am, Dabo carried the largest fan gallery of the day, even beating out a few celebs.
- Patience will hopefully prove to be a virtue for Florida State. 2005 standout recruit Matt Dunham is rumored to be playing for FSU in 2009. After limited playing time in his first couple of seasons as FB and TE, he ultimately flunked out, and hit up a Juco to get things lined back up. He will enter 2009 as a redshirt Junior.
- Switch gears to a positive aspect of FSU players – Myron Rolle. The Rhodes Scholar and football standout chose a non-football path after graduation, but many experts are projecting him as a 1st round pick in the ’10 NFL draft (ahead of the almighty himself, Tim Tebow).
- Good news for Canes fans – DL Courtney Harris is nearing 100% for ’09. Standout player in ’07, missed the entire ’08 season with an Achilles injury.
- Came across a pretty good read about Wake Forest QB Riley Skinner.
