Around the ACC
(2.15.09) Not a lot going on in the world of ACC Football this week, though the ’09 Schedules were released (see below), giving us a TON of matchups to get excited over, in particular the match-up between SEC Powerhouse Alabama and ACC Champ Virginia Tech. Hurricane fans have a lot to be excited about as well, with the addition of John Lovett as Defensive Coordinator. And lastly, some interesting tidbits about Clemson’s ‘Dandy Dozen’ and the reinstatement of the GT player accused of rape.
STORYLINES
- 2/13 – In-depth look at Clemson’s ‘Dandy Dozen’ recruiting class, and who is ready to make an instant impact.
- 2/13 – Miami welcomed in their new Defensive Coordinator John Lovett this weekend. What a task in ’09 – game #1 is against FSU on Labor Day night.
- 2/13 – FSU WR Taiwan Easterling ruptured his Achilles tendon, most likely prohibiting him from spring practice. The Sophomore had 30 catches for 322 yards and a TD in ’08.
- 2/12 – The 2009 ACC Schedules were released Thursday. Highlights include a Labor Day match-up between FSU and Miami, and show down between Alabama and ACC Champ Virginia Tech.
- 2/12 – Georgia Tech reinstated CB Jerrard Tarrant, after learning all criminal charges stemming from his rape case in 2008 had been dropped.
- 2/12 – ACC home of Thursday Night Lights in 2009.
- 2/11 – The Hurricanes are still waiting on a decision from Bryce Brown. The circus act around this kid could go on another month and a half, as Brown has until April 1 to sign his LOI.
- 2/08 – Maryland followed in the controversial footsteps of Florida State and Texas, naming James Franklin ‘Coach in Waiting’.
